Since its inception, Friends of CB6 has worked with a local artists group to have art installations created in Columbia Street
District vacant lots; has worked with Transit Police District 30 to support and coordinate local participation in the “National
Night Out Against Crime”; and, with the help of State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, former State Senator Carl Andrews
and City Councilmember Sara Gonzalez, obtained funding to hire a part time Youth Organizer to help the Community
Board identify and fill gaps in youth services within Community District 6. Friends of CB6 also helps subsidize the
Community Board's operating budget, particularly to encourage and allow enhanced communications and dissemination of
information to the public.
