Volunteer
“Friends of Brooklyn Community Board 6, Inc” is seeking a diverse group of volunteers to help out in a
variety of areas. If you have a hidden (or not-so-hidden) talent or skill in the following areas and are
interested in giving something back to your community, please contact Craig Hammerman at

Accounting. Professional accountant needed (pro bono) to help with non-profit organization
compliance (Federal/State tax filings, issuance of 1099’s, etc.), prepare audited annual financial statement,
and assist in other fiduciary matters.
Grant-writing. Experienced grant-writers are being sought to assist “Friends” with identifying,
applying for and securing resources for both general capacity-building and project-specific areas. All
grant monies secured go directly back into the community in the form of support services. Can work on
as needed (project-based) basis or ongoing.
Graphic Arts. Creative graphic artist is wanted to help design brochures and other promotional
material for “Friends” for general use in the community. You can help brand us. Can work on as needed
(project-based) basis or ongoing.
Newsletter Editor (Electronic). Looking for someone to commit time on a monthly basis to
develop and maintain an Internet-based newsletter alerting the community to the Community Board's
meeting calendar, highlighting ongoing issues in the community and at Brooklyn Community Board 6, and
featuring an update on what “Friends” is doing for the community.
Urban Planning. Any professional planners or planning students interested in providing pro bono
project-based or ongoing assistance to the Community Board? Land Use, Open Space/Parks, Economic
Development, Transportation, Youth Services, we’ve got it all. And, boy, could we use your help!
